Hello Class! By Friday, PLEASE LEAVE A MESSAGE ON THIS POST about your speech topic. I do not allow duplicate speech topics, so please be sure to read down the list to make sure your topic hasn't already been taken. The assignment due on Friday morning is to simply REVIEW the Demonstration Speech assignment listed on Blackboard. Additionally, you need to choose a topic and post it on THIS BLOG.
An example of past speech topics have been, origami, making salsa, demonstrating how to skateboard, martial arts, and any number of other things you can think of to DEMONSTRATE WITH YOUR HANDS. Here's the key, you must be able to demonstrate whatever it is you are doing in class. So, if you are making salsa, you need to actually make the salsa (the ingredients can actually be chopped ahead of time, but you must mix them together in class). Demonstrating means that you should be doing something with your hands, and NOT simply just talking through the steps.
So, by Friday, September 5th at 10:00am, please post a comment on this blog telling me what your topic is going to be. If you do not hear from me, your topic is approved and is fine. I will email those students who's topics I have questions about. Happy topic hunting! :)

Okay. So I was thinking really hard about what I wanted to demonstrate for our first speech. Picking a topic to actually teach the class is a difficult thing because you want it to be interesting and avoid lame, boring topics or things people already know. I was thinking about teaching the rules to competitive fighting but I figured that would take way too long, and how do you really demonstrate that. But then my idea magically came to me. About two months ago, my boyfriend and I went to an Egyptian museum and we discovered this game called Senet. Well it’s a board game that was created by the Egyptians and has been played since 3000 BC! We played it for almost two hours and could have kept going if we didn’t want to see the actual museum. But I think other people would like it as much as we did.
My topic for this week would be to show how to make pieces of jewelery
