I am going to start a series of posts titled "Outline/Speech Tip". Please keep track of these and take note of them so you can put the tips to great use when it comes to your outlines and speeches.
Now that you SHOULD be working on speech#2, there are some things to watch out for:
1). Your speech SHOULD have 4 sources cited in your speech VERBALLY! Make sure your sources are varied. This means that you should only have ONE internet resource. ALL OTHERS should be from different areas - magazines, newspapers, books, etc....
2). Your INTRODUCTION and CONCLUSIONS should be FULL NARRATIVE PARAGRAPHS. Basically what this means is that on your OUTLINE, you should write out A FULL PARAGRAPH for your introduction and another FULL PARAGRAPH for your conclusion. See the Outline Worksheet on Blackboard so you can note what kinds of things should be included in that. In short, your introduction paragraph should introduce your audience to your topic, AND cover the three main points in your speech. The conclusion should also be a full paragraph and summarize, or close your speech. In the conclusion paragraph you should review the things you just spoke about in the speech.
Look for more tips in the coming days. And, like I said, please keep track of them so you CAN GET FULL CREDIT ON YOUR NEXT ASSIGNMENT. I was REALLY lenient with the first assignment all the way around. This will not be so for the next speech, so we are really going to have to step up the quality a bit with our speeches.
Let me know if you need any clarification about what I have written here. :)
I hope y'all have a fabulous day!
