It would be a good idea if you reviewed a couple of the videos under Chapter 15 (Schooling Pro and Schooling Con). There are some REALLY good examples of what TO DO and of course, what NOT to do in a Persuasive Speech.
In the first video you will see Dixie present a speech. She uses some emotional appeals, but could have easily backed up here points with FACTS and STATISTICS. Watch it to see what I am referring to.
In the second video, Schooling Con, Robert also has some really good points and some weaknesses as well.
A couple of the MAJOR things to pay attention to is the way they both STATE THEIR PURPOSE IN THEIR INTRODUCTION OF THE SPEECH. You should be CLEARLY stating the purpose of your speech in your introduction (and OF COURSE, follow a clear ORGANIZATIONAL PATTERN, as noted in my previous post).
Watching these two videos will give you clear examples of what your final product (or final speech on December 5th) should look like. Please review those videos at least once, if not 2 or 3 times each. The videos will take approximately 10 minutes, and they will help you out tremendously!!!
